REGULAR ADMISSION
Admission into the programme in Translation Studies is made through a public selection notice (“edital”) every year. The whole process is on-line and free of any charges and, since Brazilian universities are taxpayer funded, there are no tuition fees.
Applicants must submit their application electronically through the Sistema Integrado de Gestão Acadêmica (SIGAA – Integrated System of Academic Management) by selecting the appropriate public notice.
The whole admission process is overseen by the Selection Committee which is responsible for elaborating and correcting the proficiency tests, analysing the research projects submitted and awarding final grades. The Selection Committee will be nominated by the Programme Coordinator and its names made publicly available at this site.
All applicants have the right to lodge an appeal against the names of the Selection Committee within two business days after publication.
The selection process will consist of:
- Reading proficiency test in English and in an additional foreign language (for PhD applicants). If English is the first language of the applicant, they will sit a reading proficiency test in Portuguese;
- Analysis of the thesis proposal submitted;
- Project defence – all applicants must defence the thesis proposal submitted before a committee.
The final grade in the selection process is the arithmetic mean of stages 2 and 3.
After the admission process, advisors shall be appointed for all the selected applicants by the Board of Members based on their projects and academic affinities.

Other CVs formats won’t be accepted and the application will be rendered void. Applicants must specify in the application form the courses they’d like to take in order of preference. Matriculation will occur according to the order specified by the applicant and subject to the number of available positions in each course.
The dates for the special student selection process will be announced at the beginning of each semester at the home page of this site.
