Maria da Glória Guará Tavares é professora Associada I do Departamento de Estudos da Língua Inglesa, suas Literaturas e Tradução (DELILT), coordenadora da Licenciatura em Letras Inglês a distância da UFC/Instituto UFC Virtual e membro permanente da POET (Pós-Graduação em Estudos da Tradução). Possui especialização em Metodologia do Ensino de Inglês como Língua Estrangeira pela UFC, mestrado em Letras Inglês e Literatura Correspondente pela UFSC e doutorado em pela Letras Inglês e Literatura Correspondente pela UFSC. Em 2007, realizou estágio de doutorado Sanduíche na Universidade de Auckland, Nova Zelândia. Pesquisa os seguintes temas: aspectos cognitivos da produção oral em L2, memória de trabalho, abordagem baseada em tarefas, ambientes virtuais de aprendizagem de L2, formação de professores, aspectos cognitivos da tradução e interpretação em LIBRAS.

Abstract. This talk aims to present translation studies under cognitive perspectives that have been carried out at POET/UFC. First, I will give a brief account of the research on translation tasks and second language performance. Next, I will report research on cognitive aspects of sign language interpretation. Finally, I will also share some of the ongoing research and future projects.

Walter Carlos Costa estudou Filologia Românica (Francês e Espanhol) na Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Bélgica; tem doutorado sobre as traduções de Jorge Luis Borges para o inglês pela University of Birmingham, Reino Unido, e pós-doutorado pela UFMG. É Professor Titular aposentado do Departamento de Língua e Literatura Estrangeiras da UFSC, onde atua na PGET (Pós-Graduação em Estudos da Tradução). Pesquisador do CNPq, pesquisa literatura hispano-americana (sobretudo a obra de Jorge Luis Borges), literatura comparada, estudos da tradução (especialmente a conexão entre literatura traduzida e literatura nacional e história da tradução) e literatura fantástica. Foi presidente da ABRAPT (Associação Brasileira de Pesquisadores em Tradução) na gestão 2010-2013. Esteve em colaboração técnica no Departamento de Letras Estrangeiras da UFC de agosto de 2013 a julho de 2016. Atualmente é Professor Visitante na POET/UFC.

Resumo. Esta comunicação examina a bibliografia recente na interface hermenêutica/estudos da tradução, fazendo um balanço das vias abertas pelo diálogo entre as duas disciplinas e explorando possíveis desdobramentos.

Bernd Stefanink studied philosophy and pedagogics at the universities of Marburg and Mainz. After these studies  he was awarded a French Government scholarship for postgraduate studies under the direction of Paul Ricoeur at the Sorbonne. When Ricoeur left the Sorbonne, Stefanink studied Linguistics under the supervision of André Martinet with a scholarship of the protestant elite  Foundation „Villigst”. With the help of DAAD-sholarships he went on studying at the Sorbonne where he acquired the following diplomas: MA in Linguistics, MA in French Literature and Language, Diplôme d’Etudes Supérieures ès Lettres [D.E.S], Licence de Langue et Littérature anglaises. As an assistant of Professor André Martinet he taught General Linguistics and Comparative Linguistics of Romance Languages at the Université René Descartes (Paris V). He took over the lectures of Professor Martinet during his mission in the United Stets (6 months). He started a PhD-research about the imitations of Ovid’s Ars Amandi in the 14th century; in the course of this research he discovered, at the Bibliothèque Nationale/ Paris, a manuscript that had not yet been edited: L’arbre d’Amours et de touz ses fruiz bons et mauvais; attended the Ecole des Chartes in Paris to study text edition. Under the advisorship of André Martinet and Gérard Moignet passed his PhD at the Sorbonne (Paris IV) with an edition of this manuscript and a tentative study of its phonology. After all this studying and teaching in Paris, Stefanink went back to Germany where he taught Linguistics and Translation Studies at the University of Bielefeld. Since 2007 he is a research and teaching fellow of the Herder Foundation/DAAD which selects German emeriti to teach their expertise abroad. In this quality he operated successively as visiting Professor at Babes Boliay University of Cluj/ Romania (DAAD-project facilitating the access of the translatology department to excellence and admission to the EMT [European Master of Translation] (2007-2011);  at Adama University / Ethiopia (DAAD-project of a model University for Africa; 2011-2013); at Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina/Brazil (2015-2016). From 1998-1999 he had already been Visiting Professor at Craiova University/ Romania (DAAD-project for creating a department of translatology). Moreover many short term DAAD Visiting Professorships (1 month) in African Universities like “Al Azhar” University Cairo, Kenya State University. Highest distinction: Diploma of the “Linguistic Institute Iorgu Iordan and Alexandru Rosetti” of the Romanian Academy of Sciences for life work (2009).
